This weekend I was talking with my son’s adaptive personal trainer about personal development. Not just the parenting kind, but the me kind. The slowing down, giving myself grace, building emotional capacity, actually restoring energy kind. I told her that the biggest improvement I experienced this past year came from finally getting my hormones balanced through my doctor. She laughed and said she noticed a difference months ago and thought maybe it was because I was dating someone. Let me be clear. It was not a man. It was water, sleep, bloodwork, vitamins, boundaries, therapy, and routine. At a certain age, healing looks less like romance and more like responsible rest. Growth looks like listening to your body instead of pushing through. Joy arrives when you choose yourself with intention rather than waiting for someone else to. Working moms, women 50 plus, caregivers, and anyone who has ever run on fumes — I hope you hear this loud and clear. You are allowed to feel good for no reason other than you took care of yourself. What’s one thing you did this year that helped you feel more like you?
