If you have a hard time “feeling” grief and still want a skill to help you let go, try this! This is the third of a 4-part series on navigating grief. This skill is about swapping old senses for new ones. This might seem trivial, but our brains attach memories to senses: smells, sounds, sights, flavors are how our brain makes connections to stored memory. It’s ok to listen to music that brings up old memories, and, at a certain point its time to make new ones. Listen to new music. Go new places. Eat new foods. Let the past be in the past and start living mindfully in the moment.
